Painting has fascinated Channing Houston from his childhood. His interest was cultivated in high school through the efforts of one teacher in particular: Lauretta Bonfiglio.

Mr. Houston pursued a liberal education, receiving a B.A. from the University of Chicago. After having lived and worked in the metropolitan Washington, D.C area for a number of years, Mr. Houston has returned to Annapolis, Maryland.

Mr. Houston was born in Annapolis in 1958 and grew up there. In addition to living in Annapolis, Chicago and D.C., he has also spent some time in Tucson, Arizona and in the Bay Area of California.
